How We Organize Training Content with Series and Tags

To make it easier to find, use, and evaluate training content, the course catalogue is structured using series and tags.

How it works: Series and Tags

Each serves a different purpose and supports you in planning awareness training and following progress over time.

  • Series explain the role and purpose of the content. Our series include Essentials and Stories.
  • Tags describe the topic and help you search, filter, and evaluate results by topic. Examples of tags are "phishing" or "personal data".

Used together, series and tags make it easier to plan training, find relevant content, and understand awareness levels across key topics.

What is a Series?

Series is a way of grouping content by its purpose and learning approach. It helps you understand how a course is meant to be used in your awareness program.

CyberPilot currently offers two series: Essentials and Stories.

Essentials

Essentials form the foundation of your awareness training. They cover core topics within cyber security, GDPR, and compliance that are relevant for most employees across your organization.

The goal of Essentials is to build a strong foundation of knowledge and awareness that helps your employees act securely and responsibly in their daily work.

Essentials are typically used as the primary training content and rolled out broadly.

Stories

Stories convey real people’s personal experiences with cybersecurity challenges. They bring topics to life and share practical advice.

Stories build upon existing knowledge and assume the user is already familiar with the basic concepts such as phishing. They help employees reflect on real-life situations and navigate grey areas in practice, as a supplement to Essentials.

What is a tag?

A tag identifies the main topics of a course and is used across all series.

Examples of tags include:

  • Personal data
  • Data handling
  • Remote work
  • Phishing
  • Passwords
  • Artificial intelligence
  • Online security

How can tags be used?

Tags make the catalogue easier to navigate via applying filters.

Filtering

You can use tags to filter courses by topic. This makes it easy to find all content related to a specific risk area, regardless of whether it’s an Essential or a Story.

Measuring awareness by topic

Tags also make it possible to view results in the quiz by topic in the analytics dashboard.

By looking at quiz scores connected to a specific tag, you can get an overview of how well the organization is performing on a given topic, for example:

  • How strong are we on phishing?
  • How well do employees understand data handling?
This supports more targeted follow-up training and better insight into where awareness needs strengthening.
