Setting up two-factor authentication (2FA)
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to the CyberPilot platform login.
This article covers how to get 2FA enabled for your account, and what your users will see the first time they log in afterward.
Get 2FA enabled
2FA is activated at the account level and applies to everyone at once - there's no way to turn it on for only some users.
To get 2FA enabled, reach out to your Customer Success Manager or support@cyberpilot.io. They'll activate it on your account. From the next login onward, every user signing in with a username and password will be guided through the setup below.
Note: If your organization logs in via Single Sign-On (SSO) - for example Microsoft Entra ID - 2FA doesn't apply to those users. Their login is already handled by the identity provider.
How the user setup works
The first time a user logs in after 2FA has been activated on the account:
- Log in with your username and password as usual.
- You'll be prompted to scan a QR code with an authenticator app on your phone, such as Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator.
- Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code.
- Enter the verification code your app generates.
- Your device is now registered. From this point on, the CyberPilot platform will ask for a new code from your authenticator app every time you log in.
Troubleshooting: Lost or changed your device?
If you get a new phone or lose access to your authenticator app, you won't be able to generate a valid code to log in. Reach out to support@cyberpilot.io and we'll reset 2FA on your account so you can set it up again on your new device.
